Cotton Burden is a Principal and serves as Burden Incorporated’s president. He is primarily responsible for directing the firm’s overall development and investment objectives.
Cotton has been a Boulder County, Colorado resident since 1963. He was matriculated at the University of Colorado in August, 1971. In February, 1972 Cotton enlisted in the United States Navy. He served as an aircrewman at various Pacific duty stations and was awarded the Viet Nam service medal. He was honorably discharged from active duty in December, 1975. Cotton graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Science, magna cum laude, from the University of Colorado Leeds School of Business in 1978. He received his law degree from the University Of Colorado School Of Law in 1981. During law school Cotton obtained a Colorado real estate broker’s license. He worked part time as a salesman and broker while a law student.
Cotton was in the active, private practice of law from 1981 to 1994, at which time he wound down his independent law practice to assume the responsibilities for accumulating and managing his family’s portfolio of properties. His law practice emphasized business and real estate transactions. He has served as the co-chair of the Business and Banking Section of the Boulder County Bar Association. Cotton maintains his license to practice law and, in addition to his other responsibilities, serves as in-house counsel to Burden Incorporated.
Cotton has served on advisory committees and expert panels concerning the economic vitality and the state of real estate markets in the communities of Boulder, Longmont, and Niwot, Colorado.
Keith began working as a commercial real estate broker with Fuller Real Estate (Now DZT Commercial Real Estate) in Denver, Colorado in 2003. While at Fuller Real Estate, he was involved in the sale of multi-family, office and retail properties. In 2005, Keith was named the #1 Young Broker of the Year by the Denver Metropolitan Commercial Association of Realtors (DMCAR) and the Denver Business Journal (DBJ). In 2005 and 2006 he was also named one of Denver’s Top Ten Investment Brokers by DMCAR and the DBJ.
